IN THE BEGINNING
(Genesis Chapter 1: Verses 1-2)“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void and darkness was over the face of the water.”
This is where it all starts, both literally and figuratively. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. When it comes to sequence, God’s act of creating the universe happened before anything else. And when it comes to a miraculous manifestation, this event is second to none. Nothing comes close to approaching the sheer scale of creating everything.
If you were to examine the Hebrew word that’s used here for “CREATED”, you would find that it’s the word “BARA,” which means “to create without nothing.” This concept points to how truly miraculous the creation of the world was, because everything within the realm of our human experience teaches us that it takes something to make something, for example: 1) A builder needs wood and stone to make a building. 2) A chef needs meat and vegetables to make a meal. But nobody has ever created anything in the same way that God created the heavens and the earth, because he created it all out of nothing.
Now translate that truth into your life that God has the power to create something out of nothing. Is there a situation you are facing that has you feeling empty and bankrupt? Do your circumstances seem so in surmountable that you feel like nobody and nothing can help you? As you look at your life, does it look barren and/or bleak? Good news: God has the power to create something out of nothing… and not just any old “something” but something that’s incredible and beyond your wildest imagination. Don’t believe it? Why not? He did it before and He’s more than capable to do it again.
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us. (Ephesians Chapter 3: Verse 20)

PRAYER
Awesome God, I fall to my knees in awe of you. You spoke the earth into existence. Why do I question your ability to handle any situation in my life…ever? You are my creator and I trust you in all things Amen.
